Clayton Community Theatre presents August Wilson’s Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, directed by Nada Vaughn.

 

Performances: November 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 2021 (Thursdays-Sundays); Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Sunday afternoons at 2:00.

This Tony-nominated 1982 classic drama deals with issues of race, art, religion, and the historic exploitation of black recording artists by white producers.

  • Irvin – Mark Lull (TMA-nominated performer in CCT’s The Laramie Project and with other companies)

  • Toledo – Jonathan Garland (featured as Captain Davenport in CCT’s A Soldier’s Play, also TMA nominated)

  • Slow Drag – DeRod Jordan (an experienced actor new to CCT)

  • Levee – Jeremy Thomas (Twice TMA nominated and once TMA awarded, as Hambone in CCT’s Two Trains Running among other CCT appearances)

  • Cutler – Chris Moore (Cpl. Ellis in CCT’s A Soldier’s Play)

  • Sylvester – Aahron Young (making his CCT debut)

  • Policeman – Bob Tierney (seen in CCT’s The Laramie Project and elsewhere)
